I recently discovered an easy, delicious appetizer that’s perfect for parties: Party Pesto Pinwheels. I’ve made these several times and they always get rave reviews. With just a few simple ingredients, this pesto pinwheel recipe comes together quickly — ideal when you need a crowd-pleasing snack in a pinch. They look like they took more effort than they did and taste great, making them especially pretty for the holidays.
These pinwheels require only a handful of ingredients: a jar of roasted red peppers, prepared pesto, a tube of seamless crescent dough if you can find it, grated Parmesan, and warmed pizza sauce for dipping.
1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls (seamless if you can find it)
1/3 cup prepared pesto sauce
1/4 cup roasted sweet red peppers, drained and chopped
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup pizza sauce, warmed
Directions
Unroll crescent dough into two long rectangles; press to seal seams and perforations. Spread each rectangle evenly with pesto, then sprinkle the chopped roasted red peppers and grated Parmesan over the top.
Roll each rectangle up jelly-roll style, beginning at a short side. Use a sharp knife to cut each roll into 10 slices. Place the slices cut-side down about 2 inches apart on two baking sheets (no greasing required).
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown. Serve warm with the warmed pizza sauce for dipping. Yield: about 20 pinwheels.
