This Easter Bunny Cake was a joy to make and turned out absolutely adorable.
It did take a bit of time to assemble, but colorful candy makes the process fun and rewarding.
I love the pastel colors and texture of candy-coated chocolates like Sixlets and matching gumballs. The soft shimmer pink Sixlets were especially pretty on this design.
You will need:
- 1 frosted 9×13 sheet cake
- Sixlets in green, white, pink, purple, yellow, blue, orange and black
- Large gumballs in pink, white and green (shimmer gumballs optional)
Start by frosting the sheet cake with white buttercream and smoothing it well. A Viva towel or a large offset spatula can give you a nice, even finish.
Use a toothpick to lightly sketch the bunny’s head and ears on the frosted surface. Place white Sixlets along the outline, then add two black Sixlets for the eyes. A pink shimmer gumball works great for the nose. Fill the head and ears with a mix of pink and white Sixlets to create the bunny face.
Create a bow tie beneath the bunny using blue and yellow Sixlets, and frame the cake edge with purple shimmer Sixlets for a pretty border.
Add orange Sixlets in a scattered polka-dot pattern across the cake top, then fill the remaining space with light green Sixlets to create a colorful background. Finish the base by arranging shimmer white and green gumballs around the bottom edge for a polished look.
Ta-da! The result is a show-stopping Easter Bunny cake that’s cute, colorful, and full of sweet texture. It takes a little patience to place the candies, but the finished cake is well worth the effort and is perfect for a festive dessert table.
