How to Make Halloween Candy Popcorn

  1. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper so the popcorn mixture can set without sticking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the plain popcorn, mini pretzels, and mini marshmallows.
  3. Melt the coating chocolate according to the package directions. Pour the melted chocolate over the popcorn mixture and stir until evenly coated.
  4. Fold in half of the Reese’s Pieces, candy corn/pumpkins, and sprinkles so they are distributed throughout the mixture.
  5. Spread the mixture onto the prepared sheet pan and sprinkle the remaining Reese’s Pieces, candy corn/pumpkins, and sprinkles on top for a decorative finish. Allow the chocolate to set, about 15 minutes.
  6. Once set, break the popcorn into bite-size clusters and serve.

Can I Use Stovetop Popcorn?

Absolutely. If you prefer stovetop popcorn, heat a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil (or another high-heat oil) in a heavy pan, add about a quarter cup of popcorn kernels, cover, and shake the pan occasionally until the kernels finish popping. Let the popcorn cool briefly before adding the chocolate so it doesn’t melt the mix-ins.

Can I Make This with Milk or Dark Chocolate?

Yes. Milk or dark chocolate both work well and will change the flavor profile. White coating chocolate creates a bright, festive look, but use whichever chocolate you prefer.

Can I Use Microwave Popcorn?

Yes. Choose plain microwave popcorn without butter or heavy flavoring. Plain popcorn gives the best texture and lets the coating chocolate and candy mix-ins shine.
