The Best Strawberry Smoothie

There’s a simple trick that makes strawberry smoothies consistently better: use frozen strawberries instead of ice. Frozen berries produce a thicker, creamier texture and a more concentrated strawberry flavor.

If you have fresh strawberries, remove the stems and freeze them ahead of time, or buy pre-frozen berries. Before blending, let them thaw slightly so they blend smoothly rather than remaining rock hard.

Smoothie Flavors

Chocolate strawberry: Add 1 tbsp cocoa powder to the blender. For extra indulgence, stir in a touch of chocolate syrup or sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top.

Keto version: Use full-fat canned coconut milk and sweeten with erythritol, stevia, or another low-carb sweetener. Finish with coconut whipped cream if desired.

Protein boost: Stir in 1 tbsp of your favorite protein powder. Using a high-protein yogurt or milk will further increase protein content.

Vegan option: Use a plant-based milk like almond, oat, coconut, or soy milk. The recipe remains gluten-free and can be made without refined sugar.

Fruit variations: Replace up to half the strawberries with blueberries, diced pineapple, mango, or another frozen fruit. Freezing the fruit first keeps the smoothie thick and creamy.

A quick and easy strawberry smoothie with just a few ingredients and no banana.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen strawberries (270g)
  • 2/3 cup milk of choice, orange juice, or plain/strawberry yogurt
  • sweetener of choice, as desired
  • optional: 1 tbsp cocoa powder or protein powder

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until completely smooth. If the smoothie is too thick, add more liquid a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency. Serve immediately and enjoy.
