Welcome to my spring living room. This year I decided to skip a full spring home tour — I haven’t made many big changes, so I’ll save that for summer — but I wanted to share a focused update on a few rooms leading up to the official tour.

Let’s begin with the living room. As always, the paint colors used throughout my home are available on my paint color page. Most updates here are small accessory swaps from last fall rather than big furniture changes.

I’ve been gradually adding more black accents to calm down the brighter colors. When I found a pair of graphic striped vases, they immediately felt right on the mantel. A gold vase and some flowering twigs finished the arrangement and brought some needed contrast.

I also moved my Beach Bum Terrarium into the living room for now, which adds texture and a subtle coastal touch. Small tabletop arrangements and beach-themed figures help keep the space feeling relaxed and seasonal.

One noticeable swap was replacing yellow patterned poufs with gray cable-knit poufs I picked up over the winter. They’re sturdier and suit the room’s calmer palette.

I kept the throw pillows the same — a pair of gray pillows I found at HomeGoods. They work well even on a gray sofa, adding softness and dimension without too much pattern.

One quirky favorite is a large gold wishbone my mom found for me. It’s a fun sculptural piece that livens the coffee table and reflects the room’s warm accents.

Since it’s spring, fresh flowers are everywhere — picked up inexpensively at the grocery store and arranged around the room for quick seasonal pops of color. If you’re looking for simple styling tips, grocery-store blooms are a great, budget-friendly option.

Sidenote: That bowl with the black interior used to hold chocolates. Now it’s mostly just filled with regret.

Many readers ask about the rug. I bought mine from CB2 several years ago, and it’s no longer available, but there are similar patterned rugs from other retailers with comparable geometric styles and scale if you’re searching for something alike.

I also gave the fireplace a quick refresh with paint recently. The update made a surprisingly big difference and has held up well.

That’s the quick update on the spring living room. Kevin (my moose) and I are signing off — it’s lovely weather here in central Pennsylvania, and we’re ready for some sunshine.

Have a happy and sunny week!
